LOCATION:  The Smithfield Senior Center is located at 1 William J. Hawkins, Jr. Trail in Deerfield Park.   Map & Driving Directions

FUNCTION:  The Smithfield Senior Center provides a variety of services to Senior Citizens.  The Center acts as a source and resource for individuals seeking information on all aspects of senior services.  The department works closely with the Department of Elderly Affairs, Smithfield Police Department, local agency Tri-Town and Northwest Health care services.  The Center strives to meet the needs and desires of the greatest number of seniors in creating organized activities and workshop areas.   The Center also operates a meal site for senior citizens, and provides meals on wheels to a large number of individuals within the community.

Is there a van available for senior & disabled transportation?
Yes, transportation is available to Smithfield Seniors 55 years old or older or permanently disabled, for the following:

What is the Senior Center Advisory Committee?
The Advisory Committee consists of 13 members from the Smithfield Senior Center and staff.  These members advise the Director regarding proposed activities, programs, functions, special events, etc...  They also forward any issues, complaints, concerns and other situations to the Director that may arise from the general membership.  The Advisory Committee as a whole remains highly motivated in establishing agreements to solving all circumstances, problems, and situations to the best of their ability.  It is also a sounding board to help improve the Center and provide insight into the seniors' needs and desires.

What is the Senior Center Mission Statement?
It is the mission of the Smithfield Senior Center to actively promote the social, physical and emotional well being of its members by implementing and maintaining quality educational, recreational and wellness programs and activities in order to enhance their quality of life. The Center acts as a resource and referral agency sharing linkages with other relevant outreach agencies. The Center shall continue to provide food services for its luncheons and meals on wheels participants, along with transportation services for the homebound. It shall continue to recruit the services of volunteers to help enrich their lives in a comfortable and appreciative environment and to ensure that all needs of the members are consistently met within a positive and professional environment.

What are the membership dues?
Membership dues are $10 for  Smithfield residents,  $13 for non-residents.
