ANNUAL TREE SALE:
Smithfield
Conservation Commission Annual Tree Day. Spring is just around
the corner! Please join the Smithfield Conservation Commission as
we celebrate spring with our annual tree sale. This year’s sale
will be May 3, 2008 at the Pavilion at Deerfield Park. The
event starts at 10:00 and will run until 1:00. No early birds
please!
Each year the
commission allocates a portion of their budget for town
beautification and this year we will offer two of the resident’s
favorite plants, flowering varieties of hydrangea and weigela
plants. The cost is $5.00 per pair and the sale is limited to
Smithfield residents only. The Commission will also be offering
ten free evergreen seedlings first come, first served.
As in the past
there will be information tables to include the Smithfield Land
Trust and other environmental organizations.

PASTA & MEATBALL DINNER: To
support the Smithfield High School Sentinels Hockey Team.
Thursday, May 1, 2008, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Smithfield High
School Cafeteria. Donation $7 (children under 5 years old free).

programs are for beginner skaters to advanced skaters ages (4 to

Town residents who need to dispose of waste from a holding tank may
contact Karen Goffe at the Wastewater Treatment Plant at 231-1506
ext 202. Please call Monday through Friday between 8:30 am to 2 pm,
24 hours to 48 hrs in advance, to arrange for an appointment.

Smithfield Welfare Office and Food Bank is located in the
Smithfield Senior Center and has an
established food pantry for the
benefit of welfare or low-income families of Smithfield. Open

WOMEN’S MENTORING PROGRAM:
Could You Help Guide a Woman to a
New Beginning?
Women’s Prison
Mentoring Program.
Female mentors are needed for women
preparing to leave prison and rejoin the community. These women are
carefully screened and motivated to make their transition a
successful one. They truly benefit from having a mentor who will
encourage and support them as they prepare to reestablish their
lives in the community. You can help by sharing your experiences
and advice. If you can spend one hour a week assisting a woman in
reaching her goals, please call Judith Fox at 462-3161.

Report a problem with a street light directly to the electric company,
the National Grid, with the web-based form
here.
You can report problems such as light out, light on during the day, dim
light, etc. Having the pole number is helpful. You will
receive an e-mail response to your request.

Department Telephone Reassurance Program: This is a free
service program for seniors and homebound residents featuring daily
calls to subscribers' homes at the same time each day, up to 7 days a
week. For further information on this program contact Smithfield

installation inspections, by appointment only. To schedule an
