VIII.       Licenses and Permits: To consider and act upon the following matters:           

A.    Consider approving a 1-day Beer and Wine License for the St. Philip Council #11087, Knights of Columbus, to hold a Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance from 7:00- 11:00 PM on Saturday, February 9, 2008, at the St. Philip Parish Center in Greenville, pending compliance with all state regulations and local ordinances.

IX.          Public Hearings:  To consider and act upon the following matters:  NONE  

X.           Old Business:  To consider and act upon the following matters:  NONE

XI.           New Business:  To consider and act upon the following matters:

A.   Consider authorizing a purchase of an Administrative vehicle for the Smithfield Fire Department.

B.   Consider and act upon appointing a Charter Review Commission Committee.

C.   Consider scheduling a public hearing on January 8, 2008 to amend the Smithfield Water Supply Board’s Rates, Rules and Regulations, Section 1.1.1, “Water Rates”.

D.   Continuation of a discussion to consider authorizing a payment of $5,160.00 for a Demographic Analysis and Enrollment Projection Report to be conducted by New England School Development Council.

E.   Consider a discussion with the Smithfield School Department for funding for an emergency telephone contact system with parents.

F.    Consider scheduling a joint meeting between the Smithfield School Committee and the Smithfield Town Council on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. regarding the FY 2008-2009 Budget.

G.   Consider approving the 2008 Meetings of School Committee and Municipal Boards and Commissions.

H.   Consider approving the 2008 Meetings of the Town Council with two changes in March and April.

I.      Consider legal counsel for the Smithfield Sewer Authority.

J.    Consider approving abatements and addenda as recommended by Tax Assessor:  NONE

K.   Consider possible appointments to boards or commissions:

1.    Ms. Patricia Steere – Smithfield Sewer Authority

2.    Mr. Anthony Fuzek – Smithfield Board of Assessment Review

L.    Consider a possible motion to go into closed session to review, consider, discuss and act upon the following matters pursuant to Section 42-46-5(a)(2),  Collective Bargaining and Litigation, Sedona Associates vs Smithfield Zoning Board, Section 42-46-5 (a)(5), Real Estate,  Discussion relating to a prospective business locating in the Town of Smithfield, Discussion relating to Bryant University, Discussion on the Smithfield Fire Department’s new headquarters, Section 42-46-5(a)(1), Personnel, Police Negotiations, Town/Employee Status Resolution, Section 42-46-5(a)(3), Security, and Section 42-46-5(a)(4), of the RI General Laws.

M.   Reconvene in open session, if necessary, to announce any closed session votes required to be disclosed pursuant to RI General Laws, Sec. 42-46-4.
